Ness Creek prepared for the festival

Music lovers can start setting up camp at the Ness Creek Music Festival at noon today.

About 3,500 people are expected at the festival this weekend and preparations are coming along well, said Deborah Aitken, entertainment co-ordinator for the Ness Creek Music Festival.

“Everybody is up here working very hard getting campsites ready and structures cleaned and the bathrooms cleaned out and ready for the people,” she said.

The four days of camping, music and vendors attract families from as far away as Australia to the Big River area.

“It’s about four days of music, fun and friends, in the boreal forest,” Aitken said.

The event is close to selling out, but if that happens they have a backup plan.

“Day passes will be available at the gate, they don’t include camping, so you have to leave at the end of the main stage, but there will be day passes available in case of a sellout,” she said.

The festival is an all ages even, Aitken said.

“Sure there is a fair share of partying that goes on, but we really advocate respect for everybody that comes up. Respect your neighbor and understand that somebody has a different version of fun any partying than you may have,” she said.

For those who have never been, the website suggests bringing your dancing shoes and plenty of mosquito spray.
