Saskatoon needs to spend $115M on roads in next 5 years: report

An administration report is calling for Saskatoon residents to reach deep in their pockets to fix the city’s roads.

The report says Saskatoon needs to spend $115 million over the next five years, but Councillor Glen Penner says the city can't cover that tab alone.

“What we need is to have more sustained funding from both the provincial and federal governments in order for infrastructure to have a chance to catch up,” said Penner.

Councillor Heidt disagrees, he said the city either needs to raise taxes or get back to the basic role of government and cut services.
