Off-track firework does little damage

Long Weekends are notorious for keeping emergency services on their toes.

There was an incident at Emma Lake that had fire personal there put into action.

Saturday a misguided firework headed inland instead of skyward.

Jarett Taylor, a constable with the Rural Municipality of Lakeland, said it was not very destructive but did create a bit of a stir.

“There was a minor malfunction of one of the fireworks that ended up making contact with one of the structures, one of the cabins on Macintosh Point,” Taylor said.

Fire crews were already on scene to monitor the fire work display.

Taylor said there was no significant damage to the cabin and there were no injuries during the fireworks.

“You know it was just good to see a significant amount of people out and enjoying it and behaving themselves so to speak for the long weekend to take in the show.”

Parkland Ambulance paramedics report a steady Canada Day in term of calls.
