Early morning fire in Regina under investigation

No one was home when a fire broke out at a house on McCallum Avenue near Retallack Street Monday morning.

Albert Headrick with fire services said it was a passer-by who noticed the fire.

“Smoke was coming from the attic area (Monday morning), a passer-by rang the doorbell, there was no answer (and) he called 911,”Headrick told News Talk Radio.

Neighbours say the home was recently sold and the new occupants had only moved in yesterday.

The fire was quickly put out with not much visible damage from the outside, except for around an upstairs window.

Headrick said an investigator has been called in to determine what caused the fire and where it started. The smoke seemed to be concentrated in the upper level of the house.
