Plane down near Southend

RCMP Communications centre received a call around noon from Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Trenton who were reporting that they had received an electronic distress signal from an aircraft in Northern Saskatchewan.  The location of the plane, believed to be a float plane, was reported to be in a remote area of the Province; Buss Lake.  Buss Lake is located approximately 60 km North of the community of Southend, SK.  The origin or destination of the float plane is unknown at this time. 

Members from the La Ronge detachment are currently on scene, having arrived there this evening at approximately 8:35 p.m.  RCMP members arrived by float plane to begin their investigation of this incident.  The Transportation Safety Board of Canada will also be involved in the investigation.
 
Although the total number of occupants on the plane is unknown at this time, three individuals are confirmed deceased.  One of the three deceased includes the pilot
