Splash – TD Bank Sponsors Summer Reading Program at John M. Cuelenaere Library

Register for the TD Summer Reading Club at the Circulation Desk. You’ll receive a poster, activity booklet, stickers, and a reading log. Keep track of the time you spend reading and when the log is completed, bring it in, put it in the draw box, and pick up another reading log.

Prizes!!
Each reading log you return will stay in the draw box all summer. The more reading logs you complete the more chances you have to win. All reading logs must be in the draw box by August 15!

There will be weekly prize draws for water park passes and other fun summer stuff! At the Wind-up Party on August 17, we’ll draw for the grand prize—a mini waterproof pocket camcorder!

Complete the entry form on the back of each reading log for a chance to win these prizes offered by Wapiti Regional Library:
First prize – Nintendo DSi
Second prize – iPod shuffle 2GB
Third prize – Nerf Super Soaker – Tornado Strike
Fourth prize – Sportcraft 5 game combo – Badminton, Volleyball, Jai Lite, Rally Ball, Flying Disc

It doesn’t matter what the weather’s like—we’ll be at the beach for stories and colouring. We’ll make a popsicle stick seashell raft craft, too.

In the Octopus’s Garden

We’ll be exploring the octopus’s garden, colouring, and making a hanging octopus craft.

Under the Sea

Discover the delightful creatures under the sea. We’ll be making a chalk mural outside so wear a sunhat. Then we’ll cool off with a cold treat.

Gone Fishin’

There’ll be fish stories—honest! Then we’ll decorate a fishing pole mobile.

It’s a Shark!

Did you know sharks have been around for over 400 million years? Discover more about sharks with stories and activities. We’ll be making a toilet paper roll shark craft and doing some colouring.

Chill out with a movie each Thursday at 2:00—they’re free, they’re rated general, and everyone is welcome!

July 7 Gulliver’s Travels
(85 minutes) When Gulliver, a wannabe travel writer from New York, actually ventures out of the city to write a travel piece, a storm-tossed voyage lands him on an island inhabited by tiny folks called Lilliputians where he soon becomes an inspiration to his new little friends.

July 14 The Little Mermaid
(83 minutes) Ariel, a fun-loving and mischievous mermaid, is off on an adventure of a lifetime with her

best friends, the adorable Flounder, and the reggae-singing Caribbean crab Sebastian at her side.

July 21 Finding Nemo
(100 minutes) Enjoy the adventures of two fish, Marlin and his son Nemo, who become separated in the Great Barrier Reef when Nemo is taken from home and put in a fish tank. With the help of a friendly-but-forgetful fish, Marlin embarks on a dangerous journey to save his son while Nemo hatches a few escape plans of his own.

July 28 The Princess and the Frog
(98 minutes) In this modern-day take on a classic fairy tale, you’ll find out what really happened after the princess kissed the frog. Join Princess Tiana and her world of talking frogs, singing alligators, and lovesick fireflies as she journeys into the Louisiana bayous for an incredible adventure.

August 4 Ponyo
(103 minutes) From the Academy Award®-winning director and world-renowned Japanese animation legend Hayao Miyazaki comes Ponyo, a story inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale, The Little Mermaid. A young goldfish named Ponyo is on a quest to become human.

August 11 Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs
(90 minutes) Eccentric wannabe scientist Flint Lockwood invents a miraculous device designed to solve the world hunger crisis. But when Flint bites off more than he can chew, he sets in motion a global disaster of epic proportions.

August 18 Flushed Away
(84 minutes) An uptown rat gets flushed down the toilet from his penthouse apartment, landing in the sewers of London, where he has to learn a whole new and different way of life.
