Saskatchewan attracts storm chasers

Saskatchewan is seeing an influx of storm chasers.

Greg Johnson, a storm chaser from Regina, says it's for a simple reason.

“Storms that we get up here are very photogenic; a little bit slower moving than the ones we see down south. So it's a really great opportunity for those that are into this hobby to see some awesome storms.”

Johnson adds that Americans are attracted to the storm chasing opportunities available in Saskatchewan.

“We have a much better gridded road network, you can see for long distances without having to much obstruction,” said Johnson.

It could also be a good year for storms

“Some thinking for this year, with all moisture on the ground, that it could be a great source of thunderstorm fuel.” said Johnson.

Overall, Johnson feels the next month or so could be a busy one for storm chasers.
