Flooding destroys 40 homes in Roche Percee

As water falls in Roche Percee so do the spirits of many flooded residents.

Roche Percee Mayor Reg Jahn says at least 40 homes will be condemned once the community becomes accessible again. One of houses belongs to Barrie Gill who is devastated by the amount of flooding.

“Spelt our fates, that’s for sure. What can you do with that kind of water?” said Gills.

He says the incredible amount of water that was four feet up the walls in his valley home doesn't just destroy the house he's lived in his whole life. It destroys the community.

“You live here 60 years; your heart is in this community. It was growing, it was prospering, we had young couples moving in. The community looked so good and (the flood) just wiped it away,” said Gills.
