RCMP confirm suspicious death a homicide

The Yorkton RCMP have confirmed the suspcious death that occured in Yorkton early Monday morning as a homicide.

The victim, 50-year-old Jimmy Ray Wiebe, was found dead at a Shell gas station and convenience store.

Police say they received a call at 4:50 a.m. Monday that a man was seriously injured at a Yorkton business at 7th Avenue North and Smith Street East.

RCMP Cpl. Rob King said the man was found in the business by a customer. The man succumbed to his injuries.

“When members and EMS got there right after the person that called and reported it, he was determined to be dead.”

The Mounties are asking anyone who may have been in the area between the hours of 1:30 a.m. and 5 a.m. and noticed anything suspicious or unusual to contact police.
