Alene Kivimaki  presenting Emily Zabaraschuk from Meath Park with second in the provincial Primary poster contest. Next is Kimlynn Rooney who placed 3rd in the Senior poster also from Meath Park and Amy Macauley from St. Anne's school in Prince Albert who took 1st in the Provincial Junior. Congratulations Girls. They all won money for themselves and their schools.

We the Elks and Royal Purple hold a contest each year starting in Sept./ Oct at which time letters and forms go out to all the schools in Prince Albert and surrounding districts.

There are 3 categories with different levels depending on the age of the children.

There is Media, Poster and Literary Categories. We then get judges from the City Police, RCMP, CTV, Addictions Awareness Centres and judge the entries.

The local winners receive money according to the level and category.

These winners are sent to provincial for further judging and also receive prizes of money and the school will receive the same amount so it gives the schools an incentive also to participate in this. We have a lot of help and publicity from the police and CTV.

They have been super in their team work with us to get the word out there on how drugs, and alcohol as well as good healthy living affects our community and life style.
