Grocery Prices are Increasing … Community Kitchens are a Fun Way to Save Grocery Costs

May 29, 2011 | 10:00 AM

The cost of food, like many things, has been increasing, making it harder for many families to afford enough healthy food to meet their dietary needs.

Meat is often one of the most costly items in any recipe. To save money, consider adding other protein-rich foods such as beans or lentils to meals.

Cut down on the amount of meat in the recipe by using mashed-up beans as filler in meatballs, meatloaf or hamburgers for a cheaper alternative.

Of course, a community kitchen is another great way to stretch your food dollar. Participants pool their time and money to create healthy and tasty meals at a lower cost.
