May is Leave a Legacy Month in Canada. For many years the Victoria Hospital Foundation together with numerous other charities in Prince Albert and area promote this awareness event. Surveys indicate that more than 50% of Canadians still do not have a will. For many of those who do have a will it is often out of date and would benefit from an update to reflect current circumstances and asset values. Many Canadians do not realize how much the value of their assets has grown.

The Victoria Hospital Foundation has just received an estate gift of $25,000. The donor directed the funds be used to help purchase a Dialysis Machine for the Victoria Regional Hospital. Several years ago the donor contacted our foundation office to discuss the Dialysis program and where help was needed. In addition to gifts to family and church the donor also included the gift to the Victoria Hospital Foundation.

The foundation has benefited from numerous estate gifts. Last year we launched the Legacy Leaders campaign to indentify and encourage estate gifts to the foundation. The campaign yielded significant “intentions” from those contacted.
