Grain prices shoot up in May PRO

May 26, 2011 | 3:29 PM

The Canadian Wheat Board (CWB) released its May 2011 Pool Return Outlook (PRO) for the 2011-12 crop year Thursday.

Wheat values have increased between $10 and $16 a tonne from last month's PRO, depending on class, grade and protein level.

Durum is up between $10 and $14 per tonne. Malting barley has increased by $22 per tonne, while Pool A feed barley is up $6 per tonne.

The board said production concerns due to weather and global macro-economic events drove prices higher.
