May 23, 2011 | 8:25 AM

Three years after Martin Gareau, 47, was brutally killed, his accused murder will be re-tried.

Gareau, originally from Prince Albert, had been living and working in the Cayman Islands for four years, when he was killed. His body was found in his home when he didn’t show up for work on May 20, 2008.

Today, Josue Carillo Perez is scheduled to be re-tried for the murder. He was found not guilty in October 2009.

The Crown appealed the case, on the grounds that the trial judge was misdirected on the standard of proof. A new trial was called, originally set for September 2010, it was postponed until this week to be heard by a higher court.
