Bike Safety Week May 15-21 Ride Right and Know the Rules of the Road

May 14, 2011 | 11:41 AM

If appropriate safety behaviours are not followed when bicycling, devastating injuries can occur. A bicycle is vehicle.

A vehicle driven on the road-way must follow the same rules of the road as a motor vehicle. However, cyclists, especially children are vulnerable in traffic. Please visit the Saskatchewan Prevention Institutde website for bicycle safety rules that can be reviewed with young children, teenagers and family.

Why YOU should wear a helmet:
The brain is the organ in the human body that controls every action we take, every emotion we feel and creates every memory we have. An injury to the brain can alter the structure or function of the brain and result in physical, behavioural or emotional change to the person.
