More protection for Saskatchewan Firefighters

May 11, 2011 | 3:39 PM

There is good news for Saskatchewan firefighters and their families.

The provincial government has expanded compensation to firefighters who obtain Esophageal cancer while on the job.

The legislation passed Wednesday, makes the cancer an occupational disease that firefighters can draw compensation from in the event they become sick.

“I want to thank the government for doing the right thing,” said Kirby Benning, President of the Saskatchewan Professional Firefighters Association in a news release.
