Borderlands – Imagining the Immaterial

The exhibition Borderlands-Imagining the Immaterial created by Shawn Serfas is comprised of a body of abstract paintings inspired by the artist’s intimate experience of landscape combined with intellectual probing and understanding of the immediate environment.

Shawn Serfas is a British Columbia based artist and lecturer with UBC's Creative and Critical Studies Department. Serfas, formerly of Prince Albert, pursued a Fine Arts and Art History degree in Saskatchewan as well as a Master of Fine Arts degree in Alberta. However, he was initially drawn to an academic career in Environmental Science and that interest remains at the core of his work.
