Saskatoon stores targeted by debit machine fraudsters

Apr 7, 2011 | 6:50 AM

The Saskatoon Police Service is choosing not to release the names of three Saskatoon stores that were targeted by debit machine fraudsters, saying it would hurt their business.

It's after suspects were caught trying to switch pin pads in three businesses- all in different areas of the city last week. However, police will not specifically tell the public where it happened.

“Because in some cases, if they have taken steps or say this was years back when we first heard of this, we certainly did not want to revictimize the businesses,” said Cst. TishaRae Stonehouse with the Saskatoon Police Service.

She says it's all about education, and police are offering suggestions on how to prevent pin pad theft in the first place.
