Minimum wage set to rise

People on the lower end of the pay scale will be getting a little raise.

The provincial government is increasing minimum wage from $9.25 to $9.50 an hour.

The increase goes into effect Sept. 1st.

Minimum wage has increased by $1.55 an hour since 2007.

Donations dropped off for Slave Lake evacuees during 12-hour event in Saskatoon

Bags and boxes overflowing with blankets, toys and food are piling up in Saskatoon's Stonebridge Walmart parking lot Friday morning.

People are giving whatever they can to evacuees from Slave Lake, Alberta who had to leave their homes after wildfires forced the entire town to evacuate.

MacDowall fire not yet controlled

The wildfire burning south of Prince Albert has been held in check, despite continued dry and windy weather

The estimated 1.5 square kilometre blaze has been smoldering since Wednesday afternoon near MacDowall and is still not under control according to the Ministry of Environment.
