Record highs for local Chamber of Commerce

The Prince Albert and District Chamber of Commerce is riding high on record memberships and market shares.

The chamber’s current membership is 505, 55 members higher than the previous record, and their market share is at 39 per cent, 14 per cent higher than the national average.

Two-year sentence for stabbing at Pen

An inmate has received a two-year prison sentence for his involvement in the multiple-stabbing of a fellow inmate.

This morning, Tristan Lee Raphael, 28, of the Muskowekwan First Nation, pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated assault.

Lockdown ends

The lockdown at Saskatchewan Penitentiary is over and both maximum security units are back to normal.

Inmates were restricted to their cells since Feb. 22 while corrections officers searched for contraband.

Man lucky to escape fire

A garage fire north of Prince Albert Friday morning nearly cost a man his life.

It happened along the old Sturgeon Lake Highway 355.

Adam Harris, who is a driver for B and B Asphalt, stopped after seeing a lot of black smoke.
