1965 – 2017
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Ray Albert Rishchynski on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, SK. Ray was born on Sunday, May 9, 1965 at the Holy Family Hospital in Prince Albert. Ray is survived by his loving family: his spouse Liza; his daughters Casey (Ian) Matkowski, Charley (Michael Rancourt) Rishchynski; his son Jonathan Rishchynski; his mother-in-law Elizabeth Brown; his sister Kathy (Ed) Dubois; his brother Allan (Sherry) Rishchynski, family pet Kanada; his sister-in-law Olivia Brown; his brother-in-law Gordie Brown; his grandchildren Blake and Ali Rae; numerous nieces and nephews; numerous aunts and uncles and close family relatives. He was predeceased by: his mother Jacqueline (nee McCollough) Rishchynski; his father Louis (Orest) Rishchynski; his grandparents Mr. William and Mrs. Pauline Rishchynski, Mr. Elmer and Mrs. Helen McCollough; his close friend Jonathan Omerod; his good friend Greg Carter. Ray grew up in Prince Albert and was a graduate of Carlton High School. Ray was a journeyman mechanic who did work at a few garages in the city. His most extensive work experience was at Dr. John’s Car Clinic and Midtown Transmission, Prince Albert, finishing his career at Marv’s Place in Saskatoon. Ray was an avid sports team player with baseball, football and hockey. He was very athletic and competitive. Many stories can be shared about his sportsmanship, the journeys and adventures he was a key part of. Lots of good times! Or, “Crazy Ray” times! But, most importantly, Ray was a family man who believed in working hard to provide and care for his loved ones whom he took pride in. He will be missed greatly and remembered with much love. He was loyal to the end for who and what he loved and valued. His Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at River Park Memorial Chapel, with Reverend Nora Vedress officiating. Donations in Ray’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 54 – 11 Street East, Prince Albert, SK S6V 0Z9, or to Diabetes Canada, 2301 Ave C North #104, Saskatoon, SK S7L 5Z5.
