MARIE PARASUIK
1932 – 2017
With sorrow in our hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Marie Parasuik at River’s Edge Villa in St. Louis, SK on Sunday, July 2, 2017. Marie was born to Michael and Mary Hrynenko in the Honeymoon, SK district. She was the fourth youngest of five children. Mom began her life on the family farm where she attended school while also helping with the farm chores and learning how to make bread, perogies and cabbage rolls. At the age of 16, she left home to work at various cafes and for Pepsi. She took an adventure to Winnipeg, working at Intercontinental Packers and boarding with a family that loved her dearly. In July 1955, Mom met Dad, Bill. Their meeting was meant to be, as they married on October 27, 1956 at Honeymoon. Dad took over the family farm in Samburg with Mom by his side, starting their life together and raising 3 children. Over the years, the family farm kept them busy with mixed grain farming and livestock. Mom grew a huge garden and we enjoyed fresh vegetables, canning, pies and homemade jams, jellies and pickles. Our home was filled with Mom’s special aromas of fresh bread, cinnamon buns, pies, perogies and cabbage rolls cooking. Any family and friends that visited never left hungry. In 1984, Mom and Dad sold the family farm and moved to Prince Albert. Through the years, Mom worked at Buns Master Bakery, Eaton’s and Sears. In May of 2017, Mom and Dad began the next chapter of their life together at River’s Edge Villa in St. Louis, where she resided until her passing. Mom will be forever remembered by her husband of 60 years, Bill; her daughters, Sandra and Linda; her son, Peter (Irene); her grandsons, Sheldon (Laura) and Brandon (Cassie); her sister, Olga Mihilewicz; her brother, John (Elaine) Hrynenko; her sister-in-law, Nancy (Cal) Simmons; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Mary Hrynenko; her mother- and father-in-law, Peter and Doris Parasuik; her sister, Ann Nemish; her brother, Andrew Hrynenko; her nephew, Morris Hrynenko; and her brothers-in-law, Edward Mihilewicz and George Nemish. Marie’s family would like to thank the staff at River’s Edge Villa for the kind and compassionate care they provided to Mom. At Mom’s request, a private family service will be held. In lieu of other tributes, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, #26 – 1738 Quebec Avenue, Saskatoon, SK, S7K 1V9. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of River Park Funeral Home, Don Moriarty, Funeral Director.
