Rose Dryka

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Rose Gloria Dryka at the age of 83. Rose passed away peacefully in her home at the Good Samaritan Stony Plain Care Center. Rose was born November 5, 1933 on the family farm near Weirdale, Saskatchewan and grew up with 10 brothers and sisters. In 1952, she married Joseph Dryka, they then moved from Henribourg to Prince Albert and together they raised 10 beautiful children. She worked very hard as a housewife and mother. She loved cooking, baking, canning and preparing for her large family. Rose loved to garden. Her love for gardening continued well into her more recent years, where you could find her relaxing in the garden areas and keeping an eye on her tomato plants. After the passing of her husband, Rose eventually moved to Alberta to be closer to some of her family. She loved her family, especially all the family get-togethers. Rose will be lovingly remembered by her 5 sons – Bob Dryka of Prince Albert, SK, Walter Dryka of Spruce Grove, AB, Ted (Sherry) Dryka of Port Alice, BC, Ed (Sheila) Dryka of Prince Albert, SK and Fred (Cheryl) Dryka of Winnipeg, MB, 4 Daughters – Bernice (Rob) Bird of Sylvan Lake, AB, Joanne (Brian) Gamble of Paddockwood, SK, Roseanne (Gordon) Green of Prince Albert, SK and Barb (Clint Lassu) of Onoway, AB. 2 brothers, 2 sisters, 22 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Rose is predeceased by her father (Vincent Stempien), mother (Dorothea Klein), loving husband (Joe Dryka), daughter (Sandra Harris), daughter-in-law (Cynthia Dryka), 4 brothers and 2 sisters. A celebration of Rose’s life will be held in Prince Albert on Saturday, July 22nd, 2017 at River Park Memorial Chapel at 1:00 pm with internment and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
