Brown sugar and olive oil hand scrub

February 27, 2013 - 11:32am

My mom used to say the way to tell a person’s real age is by looking at their neck and their hands. Now that we have skin tightening procedures like Exilis that get a great result on the neck, I’d go with the hands as a better indicator of age.

Our hands are so under-loved. Think of how many times you register that your hands feel dry or tight or even chapped and you still don’t stop and take 30 seconds to put some lotion on to soothe and hydrate them.

Hands, take a stand! Demand the ever so easy but oh, so effective, brown sugar and olive oil scrub.

One teaspoon of brown sugar combined in a bowl with one teaspoon of olive oil. It’s that easy. Rub very gently into hands and cuticles for a full two minutes. Do this over a sink.

Rinse and then lightly wash hands with soap, just enough to get any remaining particles off along with the film of oil. Pat dry and immediately apply a lotion.

Your hands will look better. They’ll feel better. They’ll be healthier.

The sugar works because it’s gritty but also because it’s got an exfoliant in it called glycolic acid. The olive oil works because your skin’s natural moisturizer is like oil, not water. Also, olive oil has healthy fats in it called omegas that are super good for skin.

I’ve posted an album of three photos on Facebook. Just search Results Cosmetic & Wellness Therapies.
