SK Writer’s Guild Rural Program

Oct 16, 2017 | 9:08 AM

There are many authors in Saskatchewan who live outside the major centres of Regina and Saskatoon. The Guild works to meet their needs in a variety of ways.

Readings

The Guild works in partnership with various communities to sponsor author readings in schools and libraries (see School, Library & Community Readings) and other organizations that would like to host readings for adults.

Readings/Workshops

For the past several years the Guild has offered a combination of a reading (offered one day/evening) and a workshop (offered the following day). This program has taken place in various communities across Saskatchewan:  Beechy, Bengough, Davidson, Estevan, Hudson Bay, Kindersley, La Ronge, Lloydminster, Maidstone, Manor, Meadow Lake, Muscowpetung First Nation, Nipawin, Nokomis, North Battleford, Shaunavon, Tisdale, Unity, Weyburn, and Yorkton.

Thanks to grants from the Canada Council for the Arts and SaskLotteries, these events were completely free to participants.

If your community is interested in taking part in this program, please get in touch with the Program Manager (791-7743 or progams@skwriter.com).

Visit our author readings page for more information.

Support For Local Writers Groups

The Guild provides funding to qualified writers groups across the province in order for them to work on their craft.
