Good Food Boxes

Mar 17, 2017 | 9:20 AM

Want someone to do your produce shopping for you?

Want a variety of fruits and vegetables at a lower price than you can get in the store?

Then consider purchasing Good Food Boxes here in Prince Albert!

  • How does it work? Start by becoming a member. A membership is $10 and is good for life. Next, if you want a Good Food Box, order one at any of the depots around town prior to the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month.  The money is then collected and pooled by the Good Food Box Coordinator to purchase a variety of as much produce as possible at warehouse prices.  Purchasing boxes helps everyone to receive more food by increasing our bulk purchase. All that produce is then split evenly into however many boxes were ordered and the boxes are delivered back to the depot they were ordered from the following Wednesday (2nd and 4th Wednesdays).
  • Where can I order and pick up my Good Food Boxes? There are many depots around town (see attached information). One of the easiest places might be the PA Arts Centre by City Hall. They are open until 9pm Mon-Thurs and have weekend hours too. You can pay and pickup your boxes on the way home from work!
  • How much do the Good Food Boxes cost? There are two Good Food Boxes each month. The Large Box is $25 and is made and delivered to the depots on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. The Small Box is $15 and is made and delivered to the depots on the 4th Wednesday of each month.
  • When must I place my order? Your order must be received at the depot no later than noon the Wednesday before Good Food Box day. Cash or cheque only. Many will leave post-dated cheques then they will never forget to drop off payment. Cheques can be cancelled anytime before collection date if you change your mind.
  • I know a shut-in that could benefit from this program, can the boxes be delivered to homes? Yes, for a charge of $2 per box, we can deliver to shut-ins and those in special need of delivery.
  • Where can I get more information? Contact the Good Food Box Coordinator, Belinda Bratvold at 306-763-0242 for more information.
