Jan 22, 2017 | 8:43 AM

2017 has arrived and here at Prince Albert National Park we are looking forward to a great year ahead! A few updates are listed below; feel free to share information with colleagues, tourism partners, and the public.

Book your campsite beginning this Friday! Starting at 8:00am on January 13th you can book your site in one of our front-country campgrounds, Beaver Glen and Red Deer. These campgrounds operate from May long weekend through to Thanksgiving* and can accommodate units ranging from tents to large motorhomes and
5th wheels. Beaver Glen campground also offers 10 oTENTik camping units.

For more information on park campgrounds visit pc.gc.ca/PrinceAlbert. To make a reservation, visit reservation.pc.gc.ca/PrinceAlbert or call 1-877-737-3783. Remember, entry is free and regular camping fees will apply.

*Operating dates are weather dependent and are subject to change

FREE ENTRY to Prince Albert National Park in 2017! In celebration of the 150th anniversary of Canadian Confederation, entrance to all places managed by Parks Canada will be free throughout 2017. Pick up your free Discovery Pass anytime in 2017 by visiting the Visitor Centre in Waskesiu or ordering online at pc.gc./ca/PrinceAlbert. This free pass covers entry into Parks Canada locations; regular fees apply for camping, fishing licenses, and at private businesses (including equipment rentals).

Take advantage of this free pass and explore the park in a new season; we are open year-round and offer a variety of experiences in every season!

Ski Trail Update: The Waskesiu Lake Cross-country Ski Club has been hard at work grooming cross-country ski trails in the park. Most townsite trails were groomed late last month. Insufficient snow coverage on narrower trails has meant that the Fisher and Crean trails have not yet been groomed. Ski trail conditions will be updated regularly on the Chamber of Commerce website.

The attached map shows townsite cross-country ski trails:

Skis, snowshoes, and strollers with ski attachments can be borrowed for free at the Hawood Inn in Waskesiu.
