PA Minor Football News

The deadline to get $75.00 off your child’s registration fees for this fall’s PA River Riders minor football season is July 31st! All necessary equipment is provided except cleats and water bottles. We have two levels of tackle football: Pee Wee for ages 10 to 12, and Bantam, for ages 13 & 14. Please register online at http://www.pariverriders.com.

The fees aren’t collected until our equipment fitting on Sunday, August 23rd at Crescent Heights Arena from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The discounted registration fee is $175.00. Please note that an equipment deposit of $250.00 is also required, which may be a cheque post-dated for the end of the season, October 23rd.

Part of the reason why this discount incentive is being offered is to have as many players registered in advance as possible, to help determine how many teams to enter into the Kinsmen Football League this year. It’s possible that two Pee Wee teams may be entered, but the board needs proof that the demand is there for a second team before the KFL Annual General Meeting in early August. In order to apply for a second team, a minimum of 70 players must be registered by July 31st.

That’s only 10 more players than were registered last year, and 11 more than are currently registered at the time this is being written, in the evening of Tuesday, July 28th. Don’t delay, register your child to play football TODAY at http://www.pariverriders.com! For more information, contact Bob Coffin at boblcoffin@Hotmail.com or (306) 922-4184.

A group of about 2 dozen players, parents, coaches, and board members participated in the Exhibition parade this past Monday. Players representing all programs offered by PA Minor Football were present, including our non-contact programs such as Little Tykes for ages 4 to 9, and flag football for ages 8 to 10, as well as our tackle programs.

We were pleasantly surprised by the Prince Albert Co-Op recently. They invited us to participate in a recent fundraising promotion for the Saskatchewan Children’s Hospital Foundation. The public could meet current Roughriders Anthony Allen and Dan Clark, and buy an ice cream cone for $1.00 with the proceeds going to the Foundation. A group of bantam players and parents were on hand to scoop out ice cream and help in other ways with the event. The Co-Op not only made a donation to the Children’s Hospital Foundation, but also made a matching donation to Prince Albert Minor Football!

Thanks so much to the Prince Albert Co-Op!
