Canada Day a Huge Success at Prince Albert National Park

Jul 2, 2015 | 5:36 PM

It was all red, white and Canadian pride in Prince Albert National Park as Canada Day celebrations went from morning flapjacks to a late night dance party!

A summary of the day’s activities:
-The pancake breakfast served over 800 people and a big ‘thank you’ goes to the Waskesiu Chamber of Commerce and volunteers for continuing this annual tradition.
-Visitors lined the streets in Waskesiu to watch the big parade with 130+ people towing the line including horse and wagon, a bagpiper, musicians, kids, community businesses and volunteer organizations.
-A large crowd filled the Main Beach in support of the official opening of the Bears on the Beach playground – a community-led fundraising achievement that saw over 60 community volunteers assemble the structure over four days at the end of May. The Waskesiu Foundation is delighted to enhance the Waskesiu experience by managing this playground project, with Parks Canada Agency as a proud partner.
-The first Friends of Prince Albert National Park dance party at the Community Hall was well attended and we look forward to adding this to the list of many activities visitors can do each year as we celebrate Canada Day in Waskesiu!
