This week salutes the paramedics of Canada’s Paramedic Services. In celebration of the lifelong dedication to their work that keep Canadians safe every day,  we officially recognize this week as an opportunity to provide our Paramedic services across the country an opportunity to proudly showcase their profession.

This year’s National theme is Paramedics: Expanding Care, Paramedic: des soins en expansion.  Whether full-time or part-time, rural or urban, ground, air, or industrial based, in the emergency room or a community emergency center, paramedics across Canada are available and ready to respond to emergencies twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.  Adopting innovative programs, such as Community Paramedics, designed to reduce strain on healthcare systems by treating patients in their own homes,- truly reflects a paramedics expanding care.

The Paramedic Chiefs of Canada represents the leadership for over 30,000 paramedics from coast to coast. Paramedics are the third largest health care provider group in Canada. They serve on the front lines of health care in every community across our nation providing essential care. They are a reliable and constant presence in Canada’s remote rural areas as well as our largest urban cities. Every day, the efforts of our frontline paramedics, EMS Communications staff, and support staff make a difference to someone in their community.

The Paramedic Chiefs of Canada President, Paul Charbonneau states, “Paramedics are the emergency arm of healthcare and the healthcare arm in an emergency”.  Paramedics are the only profession that still makes house calls, protecting the public and safety of the community each and every day. On behalf of the Paramedic Chiefs of Canada, I am proud to officially proclaim May 24-May 30, 2015 National Paramedic Services Week.”

Numerous activities are planned for paramedic services across the country highlighting the work of our Paramedics.  Please join us applauding the outstanding work of our Paramedics across the country.

The Lieutenant Governor’s Military Service Pin

Throughout our history, Saskatchewan men and women have served in wars, dangerous peacekeeping missions, and vital domestic operations. They have made enormous sacrifices to represent our nation and to defend the principles of peace, freedom, and justice.

The Lieutenant Governor’s Military Service Pin symbolizes the gratitude of the Crown and the people of Saskatchewan for those who have served with honour and valour. The pin is intended to be worn on civilian clothing, so that we might recognize those who serve when they are not in uniform.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Recipients must have resided in Saskatchewan at one time (this includes those who lived in the province for military training or posting).
  • Current and retired members of the Canadian Armed Forces Regular, Primary, and Supplementary Reserve Force, including Canadian Rangers.
  • Current and retired members of police forces (including municipal forces and the RCMP) who have served in military operations.
  • On a discretionary basis, the pin may be presented to Saskatchewan residents who are current or former members of allied forces, such as the United States military, and those from Commonwealth nations.
  • The Lieutenant Governor deeply values the service of Cadet Instructor Cadre Officers, but as the pin is in tended to recognize those who may be called on to risk their lives for their country, CIC Officers are not eligible for this recognition.
