Youth Outreach – What We Strive For

Circle of Courage
By following the principles of the Circle of Courage, and the Medicine Wheel, we will provide opportunities to discover their strengths and make positive decisions and connections in their lives.
Generosity
Being positive, role models, educating other youth, community presentation, volunteering in the community, organizing youth and community events, showing caring for others, having empathy and giving to others, accepting responsibility for how others are doing.

Belonging
Street outreach, one-on-one support, creating a safe place: Won-Ska Cultural School and outreach van, activity groups: sports, recreation, camps, cultural activities, movies, drama, canoeing, bowling, golfing and many more. Relationship building, creating trust, learning to share with others
Independence.
Accessing community services: justice, education, arts, sports, financial support, counselling, addiction services, employment and housing. Creating support networks: friends, family, elders. Goal setting and planning, being responsible, making positive choices.

Mastery
Cultural activities: sweat lodges, tee pees, powwows, prayer, ceremonies, native traditional teachings. Attending workshops on addictions, family violence, conflict resolution, anger management, exiting gangs . One-on-one counselling.
