Meeting Notes from CNC Gathering, January 25, 2011 – Prince Albert Arts Center
We had a very large gathering and had to add another row of chairs.  It was great to see friends and colleagues as we  begin the new year together.

Round Table: members briefly shared updates and announcements, and we welcomed several new members.

Presentations:
Jan Cash and Amanda Ingram – PA Youth Outreach Inc. – Outlined the many programs and services provided to Youth in Prince Albert through PA Youth Outreach.  They will send an electronic copy of the information which will be forwarded to everyone.  Jan Cash talked about the ever present risk of losing funding to key programs such as Warrior Spirit Walking, and expressed the hope that programming will continue into the new fiscal year.

Police Chief, Dale McFee – Chief McFee gave us a summary of the trip to Scotland that was undertaken by a delegation representing various sectors from Prince Albert.  He explained that present statistics make Northern Saskatchewan, including Prince Albert, an anomaly which presents a huge challenge for the future, especially if we don't change present practices. This is the exact senerio that was experienced by Scotland and they dealt with it in a way that presents promise as a  model for Prince Albert.  The delegation spent time observing the model in action and exploring the elements that could be replicated here in our community.  Chief McFee outlined the idea of a “hub model” based on “common community goals.”
Thanks to Jan, Amanda and Dale for their informative, thought provoking presentations.

The next CNC gathering will be February 22, 2011 at the PA Arts Center – Guest speaker will be John Fryters.  A meeting announcement and agenda will be sent out mid-February.  Happy Valentine's Day everyone!
