Coming-to-Presence II is the second exhibition in the series of works by Saskatchewan contemporary Aboriginal and Métis artists. Leah Dorion and Michel Boutin are both Métis artists who explore ideas of spiritualism, family and place. Their experiences are unique yet joined by the mediums of painting and object. Spirituality is a deeply formed experience, Leah and Michel explore their experiences through memes which include nature, indigenous knowledge, family, place, Christianity and animism.

Leah Dorion is a Métis artist raised in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Leah is an inter-disciplinary artist that includes painting, film-making and writing. She is an educator that views her Métis heritage as bridge of knowledge between all people. Leah is an instructor at the Gabriel Dumont Institute in Prince Albert, she has degrees in Native Studies and Education. She has numerous creative projects to her credit including academic papers for the Royal Commission of Aboriginal Peoples, a children's book, gallery showings of her art works, and numerous video documentaries that showcase Métis culture and history.

Michel Boutin is a Canadien/ Métis artist and arts educator originally from Redvers, Saskatchewan currently living in Prince Albert. He graduated from the University of Regina in 1996 with a BFA in sculpture/drawing. Michel is part of a growing number of artists that are responding to the idea that painting in Saskatchewan derives from a larger experience. That while the Kenderdine School of landscape painting or the Emma Lake experience are important parts of Saskatchewan history, we also need to seek other narratives, experiences that include the indigenous and marginalized.
