Celebrating New Chapters

September 3, 2013 - 2:55pm

New Chapters begin with the first day of school. Kids are in new grades. There are new roles for the family and the organized chaos begins to rear its ugly yet wonderful head.

I have few sad emotions about the wonders of new school experiences. Dropping the kids off and seeing them yell good bye over their shoulder as they run off to play with their friends because they don't need me is a sense of satisfaction and achievement for me as a mom.

What do you think?

Have you ever had one of those moments when you were asked a difficult question and you thought you did not know the answer, and then you heard the answer and you discovered that you knew the answer all along?

More than Just Will Power

March 25, 2013 - 9:57am

Well, we are well into 2013 and it is time to look at our New Year’s resolutions and evaluate if they were a success. Those of us who decided to quit or start something as of January 1 , and relied on Will Power alone, probably have found ourselves continuing the bad habits or maybe we changed but only for a couple of days.

The reason why New Year’s resolutions sometimes fail so miserably is because we rely on will power alone. Change only happens when we make a commitment and stick to it and persist over a long period of time.

Life Resolutions

February 13, 2012 - 1:51pm

Well now that it’s the middle of February we can look at our New Year’s resolutions and evaluate if we are on track or if we need to get moving. Alternatively, you can be like me and not have New Year’s resolutions at all. Therefore evaluation is not necessary and neither is defeat.

Lessons Learned

November 8, 2011 - 8:11am

Life lessons come in all shapes and sizes and at the most unexpected times but I believe that these lessons only present themselves to those who are willing to learn and grow and to those who want change.

I am someone who seeks change and growth all the time. I feel like I am far from done learning and with five kids, a husband who works away 2 weeks of the month, a half time job as a counselor and the many roles of life I KNOW I have a lot to learn if I want to stay balanced and happy.

Only Another Mother REALLY Knows

October 18, 2011 - 1:16pm

This past weekend I had the opportunity to get to know some fabulous women. We started talking and sharing about our lives and we all quickly knew that we related to each other in a way that our spouses would not or could not understand. We related because we were all working mothers. We were all struggling with balancing busy schedules, raising healthy well adjusted kids and finding “ME” time. We all wanted our children to feel loved through the life chaos.

OK here we go! We have our first days of school under our belt and I am trying to embrace all the “new” that happens each year when school begins. New feelings of excitement and fear, new friendships and new events. This year my focus has been a new outlook on my role in the family and new adventures for me.

I am learning to embrace what “taking care of ME” really means. I have had some enlightening experiences in the last while - to say the least. I have discovered new feelings, emotions and healing.
