Skin Care is for Dudes

February 22, 2017 - 7:03pm

On CKBI AM radio this past Tuesday, Chris, Teena and I talked skin care tips for guys. Chris’ skin care tip was never to touch your face after eating Doritos. I had to agree.

But there’s more to it than that.

Guys’ faces age. They break out. They get irregular pigment and uneven skin tone. They get sun damage, or blackheads and big pores, or dry and sensitive skin.  The list goes on and on.

Just like never touching your face after eating Doritos (or Cheetos; Chris added them to his list), don’t use body products on your face.

Champagne for Valentine’s Day and for Beautiful Skin

February 9, 2017 - 4:09pm

Champagne isn't just for Valentine's Day and celebrating life's milestones and accomplishments.

It's for the BATHTUB.

I knew that there were health benefits in drinking Champagne. When I read Health.com's article called "Toast to Bubbly's Big Benefits" I also learned about some of the skin benefits of drinking Champagne.

The article also explained that these skin benefits can also come from sitting in it! Try this fantastic bathtub recipe from Kristin Fraser, founder and CEO of The Grapeseed Company.

Keep Lips Valentine’s Day Worthy in Winter

January 19, 2017 - 10:05am

Somewhere in Saskatchewan, there is a man who has a tattoo of my lips on his chest. True story. (Not Shown Here)

Here's how to keep your lips lovely, kissable and even, dare I say, tattoo worthy: the high quality skincare products you put on your face can go on your lips. Use serums and creams that have Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Co Enzyme Q10. Avoid topicals with Glycolic Acid or Retinol.

The skin on your lips is some of the thinnest skin on the body. We need to build it up and thicken it, so to speak, not make it thinner.

Sleep Tips

December 15, 2016 - 11:51am

How often have you come home sleep deprived after your holiday travel? You want a holiday just to recover from your holiday. Here are some tips that might help you get forty more winks.

Try to bring with you the creature comforts that signal sleep to your brain.

If you sleep with a fan for white noise, pack a fan. If you can’t, ask if your hosts have a fan you can use. If not, pack ear plugs. Experiment with different brands before you go so you like the ear plugs you bring. Bring a back up pair in case you lose one.

Get a Gift with Therapie

December 7, 2016 - 3:13pm

If you need gift giving inspiration, I am giving a gift of tea light candles with the purchase of every Therapie Silk and Bamboo Pillowcase. Whether you keep them or use them as a gift yourself is entirely up to you.

These are the best candles I have ever tried.

These tea lights are by Willow Tree in Moose Jaw. I love supporting Canadian businesses and I love the quality of these candles. The fragrances are from naturally derived fragrance oils. The wax is soy based. They smell incredible and they burn fabulously.

Skin Rejuvenation, Body Contouring AND Hair Restoration

November 17, 2016 - 3:53pm

Yes, I’ve been called Prince Albert’s Skinformation Specialist but I’ve got some TLC for your hair as well.

I love working on faces.  I love working on tummies.  I also love helping people turn thin hair around.

Some years back, my hair line started to recede.  I was taking too much Beta Carotene – high levels of Vitamin A can do that to you.  I grabbed my husband’s Hairmax Lasercomb and over several months, brought my hair line back.

I love the Hairmax Lasercomb. Hairmax was the first company to get FDA Approved for a home device that reverses hair loss.

Zinc and Vitamin C: For Gorgeous Skin, Colds and Flu

November 9, 2016 - 7:47am

There’s more to Zinc and Vitamin C than warding off colds and flu.

I’m not the only one who is excited about these unseasonably high temperatures. The bugs that cause Colds are Flu are very excited about the weather as well. That’s okay; we’re going to take Zinc and vitamin C to strengthen our immune systems, to help us fend sickness off.

Our skin is excited about that. Skin loves Zinc and Vitamin C. Both help improve skin function.

Zinc is a must if you have acne. Studies show a 50% visible improvement in acne in three months just by taking Zinc.

Fix Post Halloween Skin Freak Out

November 2, 2016 - 3:49pm

Whether it was the hideous Halloween makeup, the late nights on the weekend or the half a pound of candy you ate, your skin might look a little worse for wear.

Here are some quick tips to fix skin freak out.

Don’t rub and scrub the hell out of your skin. You can’t whip skin back into shape; excessive rubbing and scrubbing the skin is like punching yourself in the stomach to reduce heartburn. Ease up on the facecloth, the oscillating brushes, and the gritty cleansers. Your face needs some TLC right now, not Tough Love.
