Keep Lips Valentine’s Day Worthy in Winter

Jan 19, 2017 | 9:05 AM

Somewhere in Saskatchewan, there is a man who has a tattoo of my lips on his chest. True story. (Not Shown Here)

Here’s how to keep your lips lovely, kissable and even, dare I say, tattoo worthy: the high quality skincare products you put on your face can go on your lips. Use serums and creams that have Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Co Enzyme Q10. Avoid topicals with Glycolic Acid or Retinol.

The skin on your lips is some of the thinnest skin on the body. We need to build it up and thicken it, so to speak, not make it thinner.

I really like Vitamin C because it can correct sun damage. Lips look more white as we get older. This is a sign of sun damage. Lips get so dry at this time of year. They even get dry patches that peel and flake. We slather on lip balm. Most don’t seem to help. Some even seem to dry your lips out more

Remember, the majority of lip balms aren’t meant to absorb. They are designed to be a barrier between your lips and the elements. That’s why that stuff sits on the skin and doesn’t really sink in. For hydration and repair, use skin care on your lips.

Final note: if your skin care causes some discomfort or a reaction on your lips, don’t use it on your face either!
