Give a Little Life – Intensive Care Unit
Ysanne Gabora was at home in Prince Albert with her children last December when it all went wrong.
What she thought was the start of the flu, quickly progressed to her being rushed to Victoria Hospital drifting in and out of consciousness. Discovering that they didn’t yet know the problem, was terrifying. When she heard the nurses instruct her family to come to the hospital immediately, Ysanne was certain she was in grave danger.
She was stabilized and entered the Victoria Hospital Intensive Care Unit on Christmas Eve. Ysanne was told that she had septic shock due to a blood infection.
Her pain was excruciating, she could not move and she needed equipment to keep her breathing. Imagine being immobile, in pain and wondering if you will see your children again? For Ysanne, her determination to get back home to her family is what kept her going.
