Why Your Voice Matters

Jun 18, 2015 | 2:16 PM

As Members of the Legislative Assembly, our priority is listening to and working with you, at the local level, as our government focuses on keeping Saskatchewan strong.

Your Saskatchewan Party government has worked hard to deliver on your priorities and keep the promises we’ve made in an effort to build a better quality of life for everyone. Your hard work and our collective good fortune has helped to turn things around, to become a “have-province.” Even with the downturn in oil revenues last year, we continue to sustain and even enhance programs and services.

Together, we’ve strengthened and diversified our economy, the benefits of which can be seen all around us.

These are just some of the ways we are benefiting from a strong and growing Saskatchewan:

  • Record tax relief;
  • Continual reductions to wait times for surgery;
  • 423 more doctors and 2600 new nurses coming to Saskatchewan;
  • $2 million to plan for the renewal of Victoria Hospital
  • The new and expanded Pineview Terrace long-term care facility;
  • Predictable and unconditional provincial revenue sharing for the City of Prince Albert;
  • Over $4 million to repair the Diefenbaker Bridge and $1.2 million for ongoing maintenance;
  • Ongoing investments that have assisted individuals and families achieve affordable homeownership;
  • The tripling of monthly benefits under the Senior’s Income Plan from $90 in 2007 to $270 in 2015;
  • An income-support program that provides a livable income, and dignity, to people with disabilities;
  • Hopes Home, with 90 spaces for medically fragile children from Prince Albert and area;
  • The new St. Anne’s School and the brand new Carlton Gymnasium;
  • Initiatives that encourage saving for post-secondary education;
  • Improved access to Adult Basic Education and apprenticeship training;
  • Giving post-secondary grads the ability to recoup tuition costs through tax credits;

As a government, we know there is more work to be done. That is exactly why your voice is so important.

It is through direct contact with you that our government is able to create a clear, people-focused vision. It is the best guide on how to effectively put your tax dollars to work.
