Blessings Make Us Beautiful

May 20, 2015 | 9:56 AM

I just finished a spectacular cup of Tanzanian coffee from the Bison Cafe.  It was delicious.

The sun is shining. There’s no wind. I can hear birds happily chirping away.  I watch my cats, happily fixated on those happy chirping birds.

I’m bundled up in a cozy bathrobe that my dear friend Joyce bought me for Christmas.  It’s got to be one of my favorite possessions.

I’m surrounded by blessings.

I’m sure someone older than you has preached at you, at least a time or two, “Count your blessings!”

They’re right.  It makes you beautiful.

When we focus on what we have and really tune into the wonders and abundance that surround us, we get happier and less stressed for a bit.  That makes us healthier and because of that, more beautiful.  You see, we are hardwired to see a state of health as attractive and beautiful.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I get anxious. Grouchy, even. I fret.  And those of you who know me well, know that the myth about redheaded tempers is not so much a myth.

But I try.  I try to take two minutes and really review all that I have.

Here are some more.

Have you ever paid attention to how quiet Prince Albert is?  It is beautiful.

A  five minute drive to work.  Bliss.

Hey, I’m allowed to drive.  In some countries, a woman could be killed for that.  How many of us take that for granted?

One last beautiful blessing: finding out that Beautiful Results was nominated for paNow’s  BOB Award (in the Arts and Entertainment section, if you’d like to add your vote, wink).  How cool is that?

Take two beautiful minutes.  What are you grateful for?
