Green Tea for Rosacea, Acne and Aging

Feb 4, 2015 | 8:50 AM

You’ve spent hundreds of dollars trying endless bottles and jars of skincare to fix your face.  Rosace, adult acne or aging has got you down.  Maybe you’re so irritated that you’ve given up and say nothing works.  Skin care does work.  It’s the cosmetic ingredient and the quality, not the brand name, that makes or breaks it.

Cosmetic ingredient of the day:  green tea. A topical green tea serum is like water on a desert for all 3 of these skin quality issues.  Let’s look at why.

Green tea is an antioxidant. That means it has anti aging properties. Aging skin also benefits from green tea because of its beneficial effects on elastin.

Since green tea is anti-inflammatory, it also soothes rosacea, facial redness, and acne. Acne skin also benefits because of green tea’s antibacterial properties.

Studies even show some improvement for sun damaged skin as well.

Another bonus: when used under sunscreen, green tea makes the UV protection of the sunscreen more effective. This is great news for people who have sun spots, age spots or pregnancy mask that blooms when the sun shows up.

Last but not least, if you are worried about skin cancer, green tea can reduce that possibility.

Once caution: don’t drink copious amounts of green tea and go easy on the green tea capsules. It can be toxic or affect iron levels when consumed in super high doses.
