In a little over five weeks, yes five weeks, hundreds of people with converge on Harry Jerome track in Prince Albert for the 2013 Canadian Cancer Society Relay for Life. The atmosphere will be electric and all the months of planning will culminate in the big event June 7 starting at 7:00 p.m.

There is still plenty of time to assemble your team. To date, 36 teams are registered, and their fundraising efforts on-line have already raised $19,533.52 for the fight against cancer. So grab 9 friends and contact Charlene at 306-764-4808 and register your team. Alternatively you can go on line to www.ccsevents.ca/princealbertrelay and register on-line. Did you know that Prince Albert Relay has a Face Book page? Like us at www.facebook.com/parelayforlife and find out about the exciting events planned for this year’s relay in Prince Albert. Teams play a pivotal role in the relay event. Not only do they bring colour, excitement, dancing, laughter and a few tears to the event but they are ones doing all the fundraising.

Relay is not just participating in the event and helping to raise a few dollars. Relay is about an experience to celebrate, remember and fight back. Each theme represents the incredible journey we will all take the night of the event. To celebrate the survivors who are battling or have battled cancer. To remember friends, family or colleagues who have lost the fight and died. To fight back as each one of can make a small difference in the fight against cancer from healthy eating to avoid tanning beds, to wearing sun screen, all leading to preventing cancer.

Couple gentle reminders for this year’s relay event. If you can spare some time we are happy to have you as a volunteer. From set up to clean up and everything in between, your time and talents are greatly appreciated. Please go on-line to www.ccsevents.ca/princealbertrelay or call Charlene at 306-764-4808 to register as a volunteer. Without the tremendous support from Prince Albert residents our event is not possible. Are you a survivor? Who is a survivor you might ask? Anyone who is currently undergoing cancer treatment, diagnosed with cancer and awaiting treatment or has previously been treated for cancer is a survivor. Hundreds of these brave folks will be the VIPs to kick of this year’s event. They will lead the victory lap and we will honour these brave people. The fight is often hard and long but it can be won. So if you are a survivor please go to the web site at www.ccsevents.ca/princealbertrelay or call Charlene 306-764-4808 to register.
