Iron Man 3

May 6, 2013 | 7:12 AM

To be honest I was expecting this movie to be better. I suppose expectations are greater when you read everyone else’s reviews first on Facebook and Twitter. Don’t get me wrong, “Iron Man 3” is still a very slick movie. It is worth watching once, twice, even three times. It is packed full of big explosions, witty one-liners, and special effects that will blow your mind.

Robert Downey Jr. returns as the hero, and he has lots of new gadgets and weapons in his arsenal. He is still suffering the effects from the “Avengers” movie, and much of this movie is about him regaining his balance. A ghost from Tony Stark’s past returns. Using an army of hot-headed super soldiers (you will get that later), the Mandarin unleashes his brand of terror on the U.S. Ben Kingsley plays the character of the Mandarin and is exceptionally good as always. Other recognizable faces in this movie include Jon Favreau, Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, and Guy Pierce. No Marvel movie would be complete, either without the Stan Lee cameo.

I love movies that keep you guessing, and there are lots of twists and turns in “Iron Man 3”. My friends all commented that this was by far their favourite Iron Man movie, and I would agree. I am just more of a Batman or Superman kind of guy.

Editor’s note…make sure to sit through the credits. Like all the previous Marvel movies, there is an extra cut scene that is worth watching.
