Scary Movie 5

This movie is filled with lame, tasteless jokes; but I can’t say I wasn't expecting anything less. There are some laugh-out-loud moments, but there are just as many just-plain-dumb moments. It's not the worst movie I have seen this year but I definitely will not be waiting for it to be released on blue-ray.

For those who are unaware, there is nothing frightening about the Scary Movie franchise (other than the acting). They are spoof movies that poke fun at Hollywood's most recent scary movies. The plot for this movie is a combination of “Paranormal Activity”, “Mama”, “Black Swan”, and even “Planet of the Apes”. Scary Movie typically includes a decent cast, and this installment is no different. “Scary Movie 5” features the likes of Charlie Sheen, Lindsay Lohan, Molly Shannon and Snoop Dogg. Actually the funniest part of this movie is the opening sequence involving Sheen and Lohan.

I was pretty amazed to see so many young children in the theatre. Were those parents unaware of what they would be watching, or have kids just become so de-sensitized? There are a lot of sexual jokes in this movie, so I'm sure some parents had some interesting explanations.

Jurassic Park 3D

Jurassic Park is just as good and frightening as when I first watched it 20 years ago. Yes I know, I could not believe either that this movie was that old. I have this movie on blue-ray but I was really curious to see what new thrills the 3D version would offer. I am sorry to say I would leave the theatre disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, this is still a great looking movie, and was worth watching in theatres again, but I am just not sure why it was packaged as a 3D release.
