Jack The Giant Slayer

Here is the latest example that Hollywood is running out of good ideas. Last month it was Hansel and Gretel and now, a take-off on the classic fairy tale, Jack and the Beanstalk. What's next? Goldilocks and the Three Bears? I was prepared for a colossal stinker, but instead I was pleasantly surprised. “Jack The Giant Slayer” is a fun adventure movie for the whole family. Both kids and adults will enjoy the special 3D effects. The acting is forgettable but the storyline is highly entertaining.

The giants really make this movie. They are hideous, humorous but scary when it counts. There is a certain degree of cheese behind these enormous movie stars. I am sure I was not the only in the audience for example, who groaned when the names of the giants were announced… Fee, Fi, Fo, and Fum.

In its opening weekend, Jack The Giant Slayer drew $28 million at the box office. It cost nearly $200 million to make. I have no doubt though that this movie will continue to make lots of money in the weeks ahead.
