Do Or Do Not, There Is No Try

Feb 6, 2013 | 2:27 PM

The internet is literally blowing up (and so is my brain) with news about J.J. Abrams and Star Wars 7, and not necessarily the two together at times.

First off, rumors have been flying around left right and center but Disney and Lucasfilm finally confirmed that there will be standalone Star Wars movies and that they already have two planned.

Speculation on what these films will be about has been flying around as well. While it was confirmed that they will more than likely be origin stories about famous characters it has not been confirmed exactly which characters are going to have these spotlight films.

Fans however have a good idea what they want to see. With Yoda at the top, Han Solo and Boba Fett have come in a close second.

Walt Disney Co. CEO Bob Iger said that the films would be released during the six year period that the three new saga films would be released.

So a little spice added to the main course.

The next big rumor, and of course this is not confirmed yet, however an Australian radio DJ has announced that they have heard John Noble (Walter on Fringe) could be the next Sith Lord in the new Star Wars movie…

Did your heart just stop? So did mine when I heard this. He exactly fits the role in every single way, voice, acting style, and look. And John Noble is a HUGE Sci-Fi fan, so he would pay great homage to the series. And Noble and Abrams have a good history together working on Fringe, so they would be a good coupling on the new Star Wars movie.

Let us hope and pray that this is more than just a simple rumor.

And I’m not even finished yet.

Just today it was announced that J.J. Abrams, already busy with two of the top space operas of all time, is now partnering up with Valve (Half-Life, Portal, Portal 2), to create a whole new game with the company.

And if that doesn’t knock your block off, on top of everything else Jenga’d up here, Valve's managing director Gabe Newell added that he’s really hoping to get into talks with Abrams not only about the new game but also about bringing Half-Life AND Portal to the big screen.

Abrams is LITERALLY holding a huge chunk of the sci-fi world on his back now.

Could I possibly shovel anything more into your brain?

How about this, Discovery News recently released a star map of the Star Wars galaxy…

You can check it out here if you can handle any more.

Gamer Gab

Now I know I haven’t done a lot of talking about game systems in here lately.

Honestly I don’t think there’s been a lot that’s exciting.

However some fresh rumors about the new X Box have surfaced that may put some buyers off.

First of all the new system may be required to be constantly connected to the internet and this may be because of the fact that the games you purchase for the system will come with activation codes, much like games for the PC, that would only work once on one system.

This would kill the possibility of playing used or rented games which would take a huge chunk out of retail stores like GameSpot and EB Games.

One suggestion was that the reason for this was that the new Microsoft game system may be switching to downloadable software rather than physical discs.

They may shoot themselves in the foot though because a large market of gaming comes from being able to buy, sell and trade games. No one wants to play the same game forever, eventually you want to get rid of it and the best way to do that is to fair trade it for another game at no cost to you.

These are still rumors but I’m sure we’ll hear news soon, especially with Sony teasing a big announcement about Playstation coming later in the month.

YOUTUBE EPICNESS OF THE WEEK

I’m sure most of us know what Pokemon are, I grew up with the game, and the series showed up on American television around the time I was in my teens.

So you will probably all appreciate this rendition of the original series song sung by the one and only…President of the United States of America…Barack Obama.

Roll Credits

So I hope you all can forgive me for missing the File last week, I was ill and I brought you lots of epicness this week so I’m sure you can deal.

I’m off to a galaxy far, far away.
