Tron 3 and Timey-Whimey stuff

Dec 31, 2012 | 8:28 AM

2015, a year of many great upcoming movies, Star Wars 7 (oh glorious day), The Avengers 2, The Justice League, Avatar 2, The Fantastic Four reboot, The SECOND Batman reboot. I could go on!

But is it possible to add Tron 3 to that list of mega blockbusters? Joseph Kosinski, director of Tron Legacy and Oblivion sure as hell hopes so!

According to Collider, the young director is ready to roll with Tron 3 to possibly make it his next big movie to work on after finishing the Tom Cruise sci-fi drama Oblivion.

He says it would be ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ version of a possible trilogy (which would exclude the original Tron as the first). For those of you that don’t speak geek, that’s basically a way of saying the one where the bad guys get the upper hand.

Writter Jesse Wigutow has been hired to pen the new script, and as long as the first draft is accepted filming could begin this year.

Since Tron Legacy came out a lot of the younger generation has been turned onto the Tron trend; And why not with Daft Punk writing the score and fresh, new and hip director Kosinski sitting at the helm.
It was a great freakin’ movie!

Now for those who have not seen the movie I warn you spoiler alert ahead. You’ve been warned.

So in the last Tron movie we found out that the character Tron had been transformed by Clue into his mindless minion which he named Rinzler and pit against programs in the games tournament.

But in the end when Rinzler realizes he is Tron and says that spin tingling line which original Tron fans would get ‘I fight for the User’ (nerdgasm right there), he is then attacked by Clue and left to drown in the ocean. However in the last few seconds we see him turn from the evil Master Control orange to program bluish white. Now Kosinski wouldn’t have just let him turn that colour and then die.
So I think that while we know that Flynn died when reconnecting with Clue, Tron will live on in the much speculated on Tron 3.

Garrett Hedlund (Sam Flynn) has confirmed he will be returning in the sequel, and we can all hope and pray that the sexy Olivia Wilde will also return to reprise her role as Quorra, Sam’s love interest.
Whatever happens if Tron 3 is added to the epic mix of mega blockbusters in 2015 Disney stands to make a ton of box office cash.

Now moving on I’d like to start two new trends with my blog.

First up I’m starting a new part called “YOUTUBE EPICNESS OF THE WEEK” (insert loud drumming).
That’s right every week I’m going to bring you a great Youtube video that I’ve discovered in my searches through the web.

“But James,” I hear you asking, “how is this any different than any of those other generic shows showing hilarious Youtube videos each week?”

I’m going to feature the geek of the geekiest videos to you not just random cats doing tricks or fat people falling over.

This week, for all the ‘Doctor Who’, timey-whimey and ‘Back to the Future’ fans, here comes ‘Blink to the Future’.

This video was created by James Farr and I highly suggest you subscribe to his Youtube channel because he creates hilarious spoofs like this on a weekly basis.

The second thing I’d like to start doing is featuring some great art from you locals. The only rules it has to be geek approved. Send me your fan-fiction art, random sci-fi and adventure works or just whatever you think fits the geek category.

If it’s good I’ll feature it on the blog in the next few weeks with your name plastered all over it for all the fans to see. If you’d like me to add contact info for those hoping to purchase work from you feel free to send that info along too.

Come on Northern Saskatchewan I know you guys have some real talent out there.

Send to jbowler@panow.com.

As for me I’m getting in my TARDIS and heading to 2015 to check out all those great movies now!
