Minor hockey ready to hit the ice

Sep 18, 2012 | 9:58 AM

It goes without saying that when the leaves change color our thoughts automatically turn to hockey, for many of us that’s a good thing. A chance to get back to the rink and catch up with some people who we haven’t seen all summer.

At P.A. Minor Hockey we are hard at work getting everything ready for another busy Hockey Season. It looks like our numbers will be up a little again this year, and we are going to be improving on some of the programs we started up last year and trying to add a few new wrinkles to make this season even more enjoyable for everyone.

Our Tier one teams are underway and those team rosters are almost finalized. Our Team-forming evaluation skates will all be getting going this week, and our female teams will also be getting started as well.

We are pleased with the Team-forming process we use in Prince Albert. Our Minor Hockey Coaches have bought in and are really working hard to make the system work, and we thank them for their efforts. This system is designed to make our teams even and competitive which in turn will make the game more enjoyable for all. This year we are adding a new format to our House League playoff system that we hope will make things extra exciting.

Our Executive is working hard as well to insure that Prince Albert Minor Hockey continues to move forward and improve our programs to meet the needs of our players and families. They are always open to new suggestions, and are also always looking for help at the Community Clubs throughout the city.

We will be kicking off our season on Sept 25 with our “Welcome Back to Hockey “ BBQ, from 4:00-8:00 pm in the parking lot in front of the Art Hauser Center. We will have lots of food, and players from the Raiders, IceHawks, Mintos and A & W Bears on hand to meet people. We will have a giant shiny rink set up and a “hardest shot” competition as well. Come on out, have a burger and help us kick off the 2012-2013 hockey season.

See you in the Rink!
