Best Sunday Brunch : SHANANIGAN’S COFFEE, BISTRO AND DESSERT BAR

Nestled in a corner of Prince Albert is a perfect little spot for the Best Sunday Brunch! Chef Jeannette Kindzerski and her team present a great spread of delicious food items every Sunday at the Bistro located on the corner of 22nd street and 6th avenue west.  You will find all your breakfast favorites waffles, pancakes, bacon, ham and sausage as well as eggs prepared in a variety of ways. Chef Jenn adds some weekly specialty items utilizing fresh seasonal offerings.

To cap off a great tasting brunch try her chocolate cake, cheesecake or maybe banana cream pie. Shananigan’s Coffee, Bistro and Dessert Bar is the best place to go in Prince Albert to satisfy your sweet tooth.

 “The cheesecakes are very popular, my pies are very popular, and I have a very nice strawberry lemon torte,” she added.  It’s no surprise that Shananigan’s has been voted best deserts 4 years in a row, they always have a variety of dessert options to choose from displayed at the front when they first enter the local bistro.

All desserts at Shananigan’s are baked fresh in house by Chef Jeannette and her staff. “Everything that I do here I make from scratch,” said Kindzerski. “We make all different kinds of pies and cheesecakes and tortes and cookies for the kids. You name it we make it here. Breads and buns are prepared by our own baker too. Sometimes I make a Crème brûlée which is a French custard and that always goes fast, so like I said it is never the same stuff it is always different,” she added.

Kindzerski said she now also features some gluten-free options and is working on finding either a gluten-free graham cracker or creating a gluten-free sponge cake for the bottom layer of her pies and cheesecakes. “At the moment I also carry some cookies and some squares that are gluten-free,” she said. Kindzerski is the head chef and owner of Shananigan’s and recently the Bistro has undergone an extensive renovation, new tables and chairs and fresh décor to match the ambiance of the quaint corner bistro.

Jen has been a contender for the best Chef in Prince Albert and those who use her services generally are booking those annual events a year in advance.  Jen has been catering events Prince Albert and area for the best part of 20 years!  If you want your event catered from groups of 5 to 10 people or a gala event of 500 Chef Jenn and her team will rise to the challenge. Jenn is able to commission unique and artistic ice sculptures to enhance any special occasion. Since taking ownership, the kitchen has undergone several upgrades with the catering aspect primary in the design component. Kindzerski said “We now cater for all occasions including weddings, anniversaries and Christmas parties. I can also hold private functions in the bistro for functions as large as 60 people and can provide a karaoke experience for parties here or at a location we cater for.” “I do all occasions of all sizes,” she said. “Whatever you got I can do it.”

“It’s not only the desserts that are made fresh at Shananigan’s. Kindzerski said she makes sure everything is prepared in-house from only the best ingredients. “Everything that I do here I try to do it authentic including with my catering jobs,” she said. “I don’t use any frozen products; all of my vegetables are fresh.”

Shananigan’s holds featured meal nights including the very popular prime rib on Friday’s and of course their famous brunch on Sundays. Chef Jen keeps it real.

Shananigan’s Coffee, Bistro and Dessert Bar is open seven days a week. They are open from 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday. On Saturday they are open from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m. and then on Sunday they are open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
