Best Pet Pampering/Boarding: PAWSITIVELY FABULOUS

Sep 15, 2017 | 7:00 PM

Pawsitively Fabulous provides a relaxing and calming grooming environment for Prince Albert and area pets.

Darliss Vogelgesang, owner of Pawsitively Fabulous, performs a full range cat and dog grooming plus nail trimming. She is an animal lover that promises to love her clients’ pets just as much as they do.

“I provide a relaxing grooming environment, especially for pets that have difficulty with grooming,” said Vogelgesang.

“I don’t do show haircuts on dogs, but I do everything else,” she added.

A full haircut at Pawsitively Fabulous usually includes the haircut, gland cleaning, a bath and nail trimming. Vogelgesang is a certified groomer with more than 10 years of experience and she wakes up each morning excited that she gets to do what she loves.

Vogelgesang first pursued her career as a pet groomer while she was studying to become an office assistant at a vet clinic.

“I knew I always wanted to do something with animals, so I looked into it and I started taking the course within a couple months and I have just loved it ever since,” she said.

Pawsitively Fabulous first opened its doors in 2010 and business has done nothing but grow ever since. Currently, Vogelgesang is taking bookings as far as one month ahead and she is performing approximately six to eight haircuts per day.

Vogelgesang said it is important to remind pet owners how important it is to continue to have their pet groomed, especially if they are long-haired.

“Lots of people don’t realize that when your pet gets matted it can actually be very painful for them,” she said. “I have seen dogs come in that have actually ripped out mats and made big huge welts on their skin.”

“And in cats as well because cats, their mats, are not like dog mats they can’t be brushed out easily and usually when you are brushing out cat mats it is actually ripping them out of the skin,” she added.

Pet owners also need to ensure they continue to have their pet’s nails clipped to prevent them from getting too long, said Vogelgesang.

“You have to get their nails done because their nails can actually grow and curl into the pad of the foot. And that can be quite painful,” she said.

Prices at Pawsitively Fabulous are very reasonable. Currently Vogelgesang charges $35 for cat and small dog grooming. With larger dogs, the price can vary depending on the dog’s size and the amount of time it takes to groom them. Vogelgesang said the most she has charged so far for a large dog is $100.
