Sep 28, 2015 | 6:26 PM

A local celebrity and talented comedian, Kelly Taylor continues to make headlines for his endeavors. It is due to this success that Taylor has been voted as the Best of the Best winner for Best Local Boy Made Good.

Taylor who grew up in Prince Albert and still calls the city home today has traveled across North America with the intention to make people laugh. He has performed at Just For Laughs in Montreal and in a variety of other clubs and college campuses across the country. He has also in the past been invited to Afghanistan to entertain the troops.

Taylor said he knew from a young age that he enjoyed comedy. He said he always knew that he was a funnier kid but that the root of it definitely came from his dad and brother. He said as a child his inspiration to make people laugh came from watching his father and brother who also share a talent for the ability to make people laugh.

“I remember being young and watching my brother and noticing how he could make all the adults laugh he could just take the attention of the entire room,” said Taylor. “My dad was the same way he entered a room and instantly he was the centre of attention.”

After High School Taylor made a few attempts with comedy and performed a stand up here and there but it was during college that Taylor said he began to pursue comedy seriously. Taylor studied education and did receive his degree but he decided during those years that comedy was his true calling. He said during his final year of University he was also pursuing comedy as a full time gig.

“Laughing always seemed like the greatest thing in the world there is nothing better then that,” he said.

Taylor most recently made headlines in Prince Albert in July when he made it as a semi-finalist to be become Canada’s Next Top Comic a contest run by Sirius XM. At that time he was the only Saskatchewan comedian left in the contest.

Currently fans can enjoy Taylor’s stand up comedy during Comedy At The Capital  at Capital Music Club in Saskatoon, which takes place approximately once a month.
